EU classifcation not meeting its aims

摘要

EU classifcation of chemicals for carcinogenicity and reproductive toxicity currently fails in its aim to identify hazardous properties and to provide information on safety measures. It fails because it does not highlight the really potent chemicals which could be major health hazards. However, there are methods to do this in the classifcation system and they should be used more widely to improve hazard communication and risk management. These are the conclusions of an Ecetoc task force, whose report was published recently.
