GLP: too outdated or still the system of choice?

The adoption of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) is spreading beyond the world’s rich nations, where it was frst drawn up as an internationally agreed guideline for the non-clinical testing of pharmaceuticals and chemicals, to a growing number of developing countries, particularly among the emerging economies of Asia and Latin America. But ironically, says Sean Milmo, there is now growing scepticism about its effectiveness in the developed world, especially among academics and NGOs in Europe and North America.
