Setting the scene for ex-COPs

The Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm (BRS) Conventions are the most advanced, legally-binding global instruments for protecting human health and the environment from the harmful effects of chemicals. To-date, they have brought together governments from nearly 90% of the countries around the world – under the auspices of the UN – to agree to control specific substances and wastes of concern.
