Formulated epoxy resin systems have been ihe basis for the largest percentage of the materials used in fabrication of aerospace composites and adliesives. With the cutbacks that have dramatically reduced R&D funding in defense and commercial aviation, materials suppliers to these markets have all but eliminated research efforts in new polymers and are attempting to extend the limits of more conventional epoxy technology, Meeting customer demands for new formulations with increased toughness, thermal performance, and processability has been the goal of most of this work.
