Interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) are a class of multicomponent polymeric materials that are of interest to synthetic chemists and materials scientists due to their novel structure and unique physical properties. IPNs have been used as energy damping materials, ion exchangers , coatings and as dental materials. Synthesis of IPNs can be achieved by either sequential or simultaneous methods.
