Contact angles are used extensively to characterize silicone surfaces, including surfaces that are implant or implant analogs. Medical grade silicones have been used for decades as soft tissue replacement and for joint replacement. however, medical grade silicones utilized in implants have been under scrutiny with regard to biocompatibility and biodurability.
