Block-copolymers lead to various nanoscale structures based on self-organization where the structures depend on the architecture, as well as the chemical nature and the lengths of the blocks. They also allow various forms of directed assembly and functional materials, eg. mineralization based on templating. Nanoporous polymers can be obtained by controlled degradation of selected domains, which, in turn, can be used to grow new materials in the pores.
