摘要

There are several advantages to solid state ~2H NMR characterization of polymers. First, deuterium NMR lineshapes are sensitive to differing types and rates of motions as well as degrees of orientation and motion heterogeneity. Second, this technique is sensitive to motions covering a wide variety of timescales (1 Hz to 10 MHz) based on the effect of motion on lineshapes, spin-lattice relaxation rates (T_1) and spin-spin relaxation rates (T_2). Third, specific moieties and structures can be selectively labeled with deuterium and observed using solid state ~2H NMR spectroscopy. Finally, incorporation of a small percent of deuterium label does not affect overall properties such as crystallinity and diffusion.
