摘要

Chemical additives known as dispersants are regularly used to reduce suspension viscosity and to maximize solids loading of suspensions in ceramic processing.1'3 Studies have shown that in order to produce a high-solids, low viscosity dispersion, the dispersant should adsorb onto particle surfaces, and stabilize the particles against agglomeration or flocculation by either steric, or electrostatic forces,11"5 Oligomeric dispersants are widely used in colloid processing industries because they provide highly functionalized chemical structures that can efficiently interact with substrates and induce electrostatic or steric barriers. Structural factors which are known to affect the performance of oligomeric dispersants include molecular weight chemical nature, and distribution of functional groups, and hydrophophilic/hydrophobic character.
