摘要

There is continuing interest and mounting demand to develop biodegradable polymeric materials. One of the major obstacles in biodegradable material development is the relative high cost to produce these polymers in comparison to commodity polymers. Therefore, considerable effort is being made to utilize starch, an inexpensive, biodegradable material from a renewable source, either as a filler or by blending it with other biodegradable polymers in the thermoplastic form to reduce the overall cost of the material while maintaining its biodegradability.
