摘要

3,4-Epoxy-1-butene (vinyl oxirane, 1) is a molecule with considerable potential for the production of new monomers and polymers as well as fine, specialty and commodity chemicals. An efficient, continuous process for 1 by selective, vapor-phase oxidation of 1,3-butadiene (eq. 1) has been developed by Monnier and co-workers. This development has renewed interest in 1 as a difunctional monomer with reactive epoxy and vinyl groups.
