摘要

The development of targeted, biologically-active polymeric constructs critically depends on the facile preparation of polymer-peptide precursor building blocks. Sequence specific peptides have been assembled utilizing Fmoc chemistry on solid support over the last twenty-five years. Current applications of solid supports in polymer chemistry involve the immobilization of catalysts on resins or the attachment of initiators to surfaces or particles. Recently, well-defined polymer syntheses by several living free radical polymerization (LFRP) methods, notably nitroxide mediated radical polymerization, (NMRP), have become areas of aggressive and promising research. Despite the significant success of NMRP in solution, its use, in conjunction with solid support applications, has not been fully investigated. Only a few studies, notable the work of Hodges in the use of TEMPO-mediated LFRP on solid support for the preparation of designer resins, have been reported.
