We need to go deeper and wider. Two events in the last few weeks – the annual Helsinki Chemicals Forum, and Chemical Watch’s recent webinar on REACH and SMEs (CW 4 July 2013), neatly encapsulated the next priorities for the global campaign to improve the management of chemical risks. The agenda was peppered with hot topics, including how to manage the risks of nanomaterials, the intractable issue of how to predict and avoid synergistic effects of chemicals, and the pitfalls of navigating the increasing number of lists of chemicals of concern appearing in many jurisdictions (see pages 1-2).
