Robotics continues to be in the forefront of manufacturing, and they are gaining ground in welding manufacturing cells. It was evident at the Fabtech/AWS in November that more and more welding fabrication shops are looking seriously at robotic welding for a variety of reasons, including they can be used to increase productivity and alleviate the challenges caused by the shortage of skilled welders, robotic welding often costs less than manual welding, and the quality and consistently of welds is higher with robotic welding. The use of robots is becoming more ubiquitous among almost all types of welding, including sub-arc welding.
