Trumpf, the machine-tool builder and developer of laser production technology and medical systems, has earned Daimler AG's Key Supplier Award for Innovation. The presentation at Daimler's Key Supplier meeting in March acknowledged Trumpf's contribution to the development of the robot-driven laser welding system RobScan. RobScan consists of a robotic arm integrated with programmable focusing optics and scanner optics for laser welding. Mirrors rapidly position the laser beam on each area within the processing field. As a result, spot and seams can be welded without moving the workpiece or the focusing optics.
