摘要

The fuel efficiency of vehicles is known to be strongly influenced by an oil's High Temperature High Shear (HTHS) viscosity, boundary friction coefficient, pressure-viscosity coefficient, and traction coefficient (1-7). Thus, improvement in fuel economy is expectedwhen the magnitude of any of these physical properties is reduced. Typically, as oils are aged in vehicles under the standard EPA fuel economy aging condition or in Sequence VIB engine tests, the HTHS viscosities and boundary friction coefficients of oils increase (8-10).
