摘要

Mercaptans are widely distributed in LPG with the supply feedstock of refinery gradually shifted toward heavier crudes which contain more sulfur compounds.They cause many trouble such as foul odors and deteriorate the finished products .At the same time they are poison to the downriver catalyst.So it is necessary to remove them,the traditional method is either extraction or transforming them to innocuous disulfides.Such processes are usually referred to as sweetening in petroleum industry.So the first problem of LPG using is desulfurization,and the key of desulfurization is sweetening.The Merox process developed by UOP is the most widely used .
