Middle distrillates from thermochemical cracking of heavy oils and bitumen have a high content of low fuel value di-and tricyclic aromatics,which are reduced to compounds such as alkylbenzenes by expensive high temperature-high pressure acociated with this process make it desirable to explore alternatives to conventional upgrading techniques.
