In the process of reforming logistics fuels to produce hydrogen,CO,and light hydrocarbons for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC)application,molecules that contain sulfur atom in the fuels have to be nearly or completely removed from fuel stream,either in the gas phase [1-4,7]or in the liquid phase [5-6]before the fuel stream to reach fuel cells.Zinc oxide based sorbents,for example,work very well below 500 deg C for the removal of hydrogen sulfide.[3-4]Since fuel reformer and SOFC will operate in the temperature range of 600-1000 deg C,research efforts are focused on the development of stable desulfurization sorbent materials suitable for temperatures higher than 500 deg C.Mixed metal oxide,such as binary transition metal copper and lanthanide oxide,have been shown reactive toward hydrogen sulfide adsorption without volatility in the range of 600 to 800 deg C.
