Hydrodechlorination of 1,1,1 trichloroethane over PT/Alumina catalysts

Catalytic hydrodechlorination (HDC) of chlorinated hydrocarbons (CHCs) is not widely practiced as a means of pollution abatement, despite the extensive use of CHCs in industrial [1,2] and military [3,4] operations. Catalytic HDC could be a safe, economic alternative for the treatment of chlorinated organic wastes, with potential environmental advantages over techniques such as thermal incineration and catalytic oxidation.
