Gasoline Vapor Recovery in the Chain of Gasoline Distribution

The introduction of two new ordinances in Germany on the reduction of hydrocarbon emissions arising during the handling of Otto-Engine fuyels in 1992 respectively 1993 led to the development of new technologies to meet the very stringent clean air requirements. In contrast to the European Directive 94/63/EC, which allows an emission limit value for hydrocarbon of 35 g/m~3, the "Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control-TI Air" stipulate 150 mg/m~3 fo rhydrocarbons and 5 mg/m~3 for benzene (1). The hydrocarbon value is 230 times lower than the value, which is allowed by the European Directive.
