Effect of Kuwaiti Crude Oil Composition on the Stability of Asphaltenes

During the production of crude oils or in some refining processes, asphthalene precipitation is one of the major problems in petroleum industry. Many mathematical models have been published in literature (1,2,3) predicting the onset point and amount of asphaltene precipitated either at ambient condition using solvents heptane or under reservoir cnditions where depletion of pressure or injection with carbo dioxide will precipitate asphtalenes. On the other hand several papers (4,5,6) have been published about the characterization of asphthalenes and stability of asphaltenes in solvents. However, no attempt has done so far to include structural parameters or composition of oil, resin and asphthalenes in such a model.
