Group B Streptococcus: Current Concepts

In November 2010, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released its revised guidelines for the prevention of perinatal group B Streptococcus (GBS) disease.1 These current guidelines represent an update to previous guidelines released by the CDC in 1996 and 2002. The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Academy of Pediatricians, the American College of Nurse Midwives, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Society for Microbiology all endorse the revised 2010 guidelines.
