AS this column arrives in your mailbox, you're probably up to your neck in planting. As I write this, I'm looking at more days of rain than dry weather ahead, which pushes the planting season later than ever. While you're working those long hours, you're thinking about several issues, and with the steady sound of that diesel humming, chances are one of those issues is fuel use. Recently I got the chance to sit in on a conference call with a few experts from Syngenta Crop Protection. An interesting focus during part of the conversation was fuel use. I was confused at first, too. When I talk fuel savings, it's usually with an ag engineer at a major equipment company, but in a conversation about fungicides, herbicides and seed care, we talked about fuel use.
