THINK Illinois is just about corn and soybeans? Think again. Illinois leads the nation in pumpkins, with more than 12,000 acres. The state's edible and ornamental pumpkin crop is valued at about 10 million dollar annually. Especially within a 90-mileradius around Peoria, it's corn, beans... and pumpkins. Morton is the self-proclaimed "Pumpkin Capital of the World" and home to Libby's processing and canning plant that handles over 100,000 tons of locally produced pumpkins annually. That's enough pumpkin to bake more than 50 million pies.
