Demand foretells pork price future

PORK prospects appear promising for the first half of 2006. Though large, pork supplies are up just a bit from year-earlier levels. The U.S. economy is growing, despite rising interest rates and hurricane setbacks. "However, warning signs exist," cautions John Lawrence, Iowa State University economist. "Perhaps the biggest risk is strength of consumer demand. It's also the most difficult to monitor."
