Cow herd to grow

INTO May, farm milk prices ran record-high. Several factors bolstered prices. Through April, milk output grew a relatively small 1% over 2013. Cow numbers also saw about 1% growth. Forage quality and the very cold winter created a drag on milk outputgrowth in the Upper Midwest. Domestic dairy product sales are holding up well. Plus, dairy exports continued ata record pace. Those forces combined to boost April's all-milk price to a record-high $25.50, up $6 from 2013.
