Japan’s Oji Holdings is gearing up to start dissolving pulp (DP) production at its Yonago mill in Tottori prefecture by the end of this month. The company signed up Andritz to convert the digester of the sole bleached hardwood kraft (BHK) pulp line at the facility, enabling it to make DP. The BHK line has a production rate of 900 tonnes/day. Its DP capacity following the rebuild is expected to reach 300 tonnes/day, or around 110,000 tonnes/yr, larger than what Oji planned previously at 90,000 tonnes/yr.
