Worker sources announce Paper Excellence to buy Canadian BCTMP mill from Tembec

Labor sources have reported that Canadian holding firm Paper Excellence, which has been associated with Asia Pulp & Paper (APP), will buy the idled Chetwynd pulp mill from Tembec and restart it this year. Neither the reported buyer nor seller has commented on the announcement, which came from a local union claiming to represent workers at the plant. The mill can produce 240,000 tonnes/ yr of bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp. It has been offline since late 2012, according to sister publication PPI Pulp & Paper Week.
