INVESTIGATIONS OF THE EFFECTS OF COKE SIZE IN MIXTURES WITH IRON-BEARING MATERIALS ON REDUCTION BEHAVIOUR OF BLAST FURNACE BURDEN
A method was developed for determination of the effect of coke size on reducibility of iron-bearing burden. Effects of coke size in mixtures with iron-bearing materials on reduction behaviour of blast furnace burden were determined and the results were used to point out directions for improvements in the use of solid fuels in the blast furnace. In order to improve burden permeability it is advisable to use narrow size fractions of coke. When higher proportions of fine fractions of coke, including coke breeze used as a substitute of standard blast furnace coke, are charged efforts should be made to use narrow size fractions obtained by screening out of the subgrain. The most important factor is separate charging of different size fractions of coke.
