China paper and board production and consumption down in 2013 for almost all grades

China’s paper and board (P&B) production and consumption declined in 2013 after years of rapid growth. The latest statistics from the China Paper Association (CPA), released earlier this month, showed that the country’s P&B output in 2013 dipped about 1.37% year-on-year to 101.1 million tonnes, and consumption decreased by 2.65% to 97.82 million tonnes. Growth rates in 2012 were 3.22% and 3.04% for the two indexes respectively.
