Over the years, designers have been faced with the perennial power consumption versus performance design tradeoff. In addition, designers must confront which IC technology will be the most appropriate and efficient for a given application. The design challenge is compounded by the need to increase performance, lower power consumption, and add new feature requirements in next-generation mobile and wireless devices, with a rapid time-to-market.
