CAPE TOWN,South Africa-Environmental and customs officials met in Arusha,Tanzania,Nov.14-18 for a training program aimed at helping under-resourced East African countries crack down on the illegal cross-border transport of hazardous chemicals and other environmentally sensitive goods.The "Green Customs Initiative," which brought together officials from Ethiopia,Kenya,Rwanda,Tanzania,and Uganda,was organized by the United Nations Environmental Program,in conjunction with the World Customs Organization,Interpol,and the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
