Over the temperature and pressure ranges found on Earth and in its atmosphere,water in its different phases plays an important role in determining the climate and significantly contributes to the chemistry of the planet.The temperatures and pressures characteristic of the Earth's atmosphere sample the region around the triple point(P = 0.006 arm,T= 273.16 K)on the water phase diagram providing a mechanism for fine-tuning of phase transitions and associated latent heat effects.
