Rising production costs mean turkey producers are stepping up efforts to ensure birds meet the right specifications this Christmas. Attention to detail is crucial at a time of increasing input costs, turkey producer Ed Walters told the recent marketing meeting of the Anglian Turkey Association. "I'm a firm believer that too many of us are hoping birds are the right weight at Christmas, rather than making absolutely sure." Mr Walters is a partner in Walters Turkeys - a family business which will produce 9,500 birds for the Christmas market this year at Bower Farm, high on the Berkshire Downs.
