Bremen,Germany-Blast-furnace slags (a residual from smelting iron from ore in the blast furnace process) may be directly converted in an environmentally-friendly and cost-efficient way for the production of cement.In a research to application cooperation,process engineers from cement production industry and the University of Bremen have contributed to a new granulation technique by means of which slags can now be turned within a single process into extremely fine spherical powders that are highly suitable for use as additives in the production of cement.
