To simulate confined granular flow in silos, a cellular automata model was used. It describes flow of granular materials as an upward propagation and diffusion of holes through a lattice composed of cells. Calculations were performed with the different outlet diameter of a model silo, silo shape, transition probabilities, migration rules, transport schemes, out-flow velocity, wall roughness and cell numbers. To visualise the calculation process, horizontal and vertical coloured layers were introduced. Results were compared with model silo tests.
