Torque Characteristic of a Rotary Valove in a Hopper-Feeder System

摘要

The paper presents torque measurements in comparison with calculated values of a rotary valve in a hopper feeder system. For free flowing materials a good agreemnt was found.The tests with cohesive bulk solids showed the formation of a dynamic arch well above the hopper outlet.For this reason no shearing occurs in the inlet port of the rotary valve and the calculation overestimates the actual torque.
