TOKYO-The Accounting Standards Board of Japan may soon require that businesses disclose to investors"environmental liabilities,"or the costs associated with cleaning up toxic waste from the sites they operate,effective for fiscal year 2010,an official with Japan's Financial Accounting Standards Foundation said Jan.23.FASF,on behalf of the Accounting Standards Board,is accepting comments from businesses and the public until Feb.4,according to Kazuhiro Fujishiro of the foundation's Planning Department.
