PET packaging forms continue to grow

Glass Metal are two packaging materials that were tested and well researched to get a successful entiy. However, with the overwhelming success of PET Bottles and Films all over the world, issues arose such as the barrier properties, disposal of empty bottles and the consumer acceptance in absence of correct knowledge of this polymer in the early days of its introduction. In the year 2010, all over the world, around 35% of the total consumption of nearly 785,000 million liters of bottled beverage, around 35 % were filled in PET containers as according to PETnology, Europe. (Ref Packaging & Food Journal Vol.2-2014) some issues such as the barrier effect, the numerous innovative investigations were made in order to develop layers even with more effective barrier. Therefore, the PET sector is a leader in packaging materials in the areas of Natural Water and increasingly more is used fcr bottling Alcoholic Beverages such as beer, wine and spirits.
