Making sense of LCA in packaging

AT this year's inaugural Sustainable Packaging Symposium (www.sustainablepackagingsymposium. com), sustainability management consulting firm PE International, Inc. (www.fivewinds.com) participated in a comprehensive panel with a variety of experts in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The topic of LCA is a crucial one: How do we make good decisions as purchasers and designers of packaging based on quality information? The confluence of tools and players presented at the event was so overwhelming that the speaker who followed the panel boasted to attendees that his presentation would not use the word "data" once.
