Dow debottlenecks propylene glycol facility in Germany

DOW Chemical has increased its propylene glycol (PG) capacity by an additional 10-ktpa (kilotons per annum), at its Stade, Germany plant after completion of equipment optimisation during scheduled routine maintenance. This capacity increase follows last year's implementation of an advanced energy and technology optimisation project, during planned maintenance, which resulted in a large scale expansion, completed in August 2010. Resulting from an optimisation of existing equipment without altering the PG production process, the capacity increase has raised the plant's propylene glycol nameplate capacity to approximately 280-ktpa. With global PG capacity of over 700-ktpa and five global PG manufacturing facilities including the Stade plant which is one of the world's largest capacity plants.
