Solutia increases high-tech film manufacturing capacity in Asia

SOLUTIA, makers of performance materials and specialty chemicals, has acquired additional capacity for its high-tech conductive film manufacturing operation in the Asia-Pacific region. The additional capacity was acquired from Aimcore Technology Co Ltd, a leading ITO (indium-tin-oxide) glass manufacturing firm based in Taiwan, for approximately $3.4-mn. Solutia said the move will help it to better support the region's fast-growing mobile electronics and smart window markets. The additional capacity will significantly expand the production of Solutia's market-leading 'Flexvue ' film components. The increased capacity will be located in Taiwan and is slated to be online by the fourth quarter of 2011. Solutia's Flexvue film components are used in touch screens, solar applications, smart windows and e-readers, adding flexibility, portability and performance to high-tech applications.
