Milk bottles to flexible film PCR HDPE now available in flexible packaging

THE packaging marketplace has been without a - commercially viable flexible film containing post-consumer recycled materials-until now. Bemis Flexible Packaging's Milprint Division has successfully introduced PCR HDPE (post-consumer recycled high-density polyethylene) to flexible film packaging. Consumers are bringing home paper towel packages and baby diaper bundles containing at least 20% post-consumer content from recycled HDPE. For product manufacturers and retailers alike, pioneering packages like these will meet sustainability requirements and achieve marketing goals while maintaining the package contents' integrity and safety. While PCR HDPE has been tested, documented and analyzed as part of the plastic film manufacturer's process since the 1980s, it took a leap of progress in the last five years to achieve widespread material availability and cost effectiveness, and to attain optimal standards in terms of film quality, printability and machinability.
