Saving piglets and reducing the growth check works for Grant Kelly

Grant Kelly's 400 sow pig farm at Woomelang in north western Victoria was established by his father over 50 years ago. Apart from the piggery, the 10,000 acre property that they own and lease in the fertile Mallee region grows barley wheat peas and raises lambs. Since Grant and his brothers took over the farm, the pig industry has faced plenty of challenges - drought, high feed costs and imports to name but a few, but Grant is philosophical about such things and concentrates his efforts on working with the hand he has been dealt and fixing the problems that are within his power to control. "I do know this: if I can help my piglets who are doing poorly, for whatever reason, to recover and thrive that will help my business to survive as well," Grant said.
