That Alltechs 23rd Asia Pacific lecture Tour 2.011 held in Melbourne at the Crown Promenade Hotel, Southbank on 29th September 2011 not only occurred, but also started on time was a minor miracle. The aim had been for the Alltech speakers to concludethe Sydney meeting the previous evening and fly down to Melbourne the night before the Melbourne ALPT event. Qantas had other plans - cancelled flights, little sleep and a 6.00 a.m dash from Sydney for a 9.00 a.m start was the challenge. The ALPT endurance award would have to go to Dr James Pierce, Director of Research at Alltech. A seasoned lecturer and traveller, Dr Pierce arrived in Sydney after a long flight from the US, almost immediately addressed delegates there and after three hours sleep as a result of Qantas problems, stepped straight out of transport to the Melbourne venue and gave his second presentation in Australia - endurance indeed.
