THE year 2004 marked the 50th anniversary of the ascent of Mount K2 in the Himalayas by two Italians,Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni.To mark the event,an Italian expedition was organized in the summer of 2004 to ascend both Mount Everest and K2.The expedition included world-famous trekkers Mario Merelli and Silvio Mondinelli,who were equipped with Masters' latest-model X-Light trekking poles.The successful expedition was broadcast by the world's media.
