Evidence shows that sows provided with chilled water during summer eat more feed and wean more piglets of a heavier weight. A recently completed APL Commercial Validation project by Sara Willis and Gary Collman of the Department of Primary Industries& Fisheries, Queensland, showed that diere is potential for using chilled drinking water to stimulate feed intake and improve the performance of lactating sows and their piglets.
