Biosecurity, the Australian way

In these times when many of the world's poultry industries are threatened by avian influenza, Australia's isolated location is a blessing. But its poultry industry is not complacent: biosecurity programmes are in place and being followed strictly. There has been renewed interest in Australia towards biosecurity on poultry farms since the threat of avian influenza (AI) worldwide has grown, and its potential threat to the industry's future. Australia has had a few problems over the last few years withoutbreaks of avian influenza but it has controlled them effectively and is free of this dreaded disease at present. It is determined to stay this way.
