2009 has seen the poultry industry facing one of its most challenging years in the last decade, with an economic recession, no form of state support such as subsidies, marginal - if any - profits, increasing unemployment meaning less disposable incomeand 780,000 people losing their jobs. SAPA's current membership stands at 44 broiler members, 47 egg members, 34 chick members, and 394 Developing Poultry Farmer members.
